Problem
Several Integrators/Processors required that their new tunnel [solid sided] sheds have a system of fail proofed control over ventilation. They insisted on a second back-up generator and some fans connected to this use exclusively.
Our Approach
We designed a control panel where the tunnel fans can be connected to a second supply and run manually, if the main supply fails, [i.e lightning strike hits the sheds and takes out the back-up generator and all controls]. These manually by-passed fans can run totally separated from the main control panel.
Our experience had shown us this strategy was effective. We had designed and implemented the same for another client. A gas fitter digging a trench cut the power main, rendering the power mains and the back-up generator totally ineffective. The farmer [after some panic] started the smaller manual back-up generator and ran the farm at half fans until our team arrived and spliced the sub-mains back together.
